A little bit of
History about our cars...
1933
Citroen
“ROSALIE”
This car was built in 1933
in Slough by the French car manufacturers “Citroen”, and
contains many British manufactured parts such as the
carburettor (su) and lucas electrics. Although built in
Slough and with a right-hand drive my “Rosie” is the only
known 7 seat 10 CV BIG 12 in the UK.
She was sold by George
Wray & Sons, of Southport as a taxi. “Rosie” was a
faithful servant for almost 20 years, driven locally
around Southport. Eventually she was retired but continued
as a private vehicle for a few years.
“Rosie” was getting tired
and was put to rest in a barn, alongside a V8 Ford Pilot
for company, for roughly 20 years. She was eventually
advertised for sale and was bought by Ray Tomkinson of
Bolton with the intention of adding her to his fleet of
Austin taxis. Ray had “Rosie” for a few years, but due to
other projects was forced to sell her.
She was then purchased by
a Mr Richard Liken, in 1991. He restored her over a five
year period to a very high standard. Stripping her down to
her bare metal and giving her a full sympathetic
restoration, using as many of the original parts as
possible. To date her restoration is almost complete. On
the 7th of November 2005 Eddie became the owner
of “Rosie” but was forced to sell due to ill health.
On the 28th
January 2007 I became the proud new owner of “Rosie”, I am
looking forward to having many happy memories with her and
to use her as a wedding car alongside my black A35, called
Floss.
